LGBTQ+ SAFE SPACE TRAINING

First City Pride Center is excited to announce we are expanding our LGBTQ+ Safe Space Training for the public. Please see program information below and contact us to get your training scheduled.

Content advisory: This training is intended to increase education about LGBTQIA+ identities, and is especially informative for allies to the community. If you are trans/nonbinary, or would be uncomfortable discussing topics related to your identity, you may encounter difficult participant discussion. The training does not cover race, class, ability, religion, or other intersections of identity.

This 3 hour training includes activities and discussion on LGBTQ+ terms and concepts and affirming practices.

First City Pride Center is a leading provider of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer/Questioning (LGBTQ+) cultural sensitivity training throughout our region of Georgia. Created with materials from Fenway Institute and Safe Zone Higher Education Training, FCPC has developed our own Safe Space training.

This training details terms, concepts, examines personal biases through activities, provides resources, and gives tips on how to be affirming to the broader LGBTQ+ community.

What Participants Are Saying

Organizations should offer this for employee onboarding. It makes inclusion seem much easier and less confusing.

All educators and administrators of schools should go through this training. I would tell them it gives great info on core terms and things they can do to help make school communities safe for all that enter them.

Anyone that is working on themselves and becoming a better ally or just on a journey of developing empathy to marginalized communities should take this training.

I learned that it is important to keep an open mind when approaching different people in our community. Self education and openness are key.
